Welcome to our first blossom blog! 

With our fifth birthday fast approaching we decided that it was time to start blogging and help you to 'decipher and navigate' the  labarynth that surrounds the word  "Organic". 

Having started the conversion to an organic lifestyle over seven years ago, I have learnt to navigate my way around those labels and clever marketing claims. Unfortunately many unscrupulous brands have been using the word 'Organic' when often only a very small % of the products content may be organic. After all, organic is the hot thing so everyone wants to cash in. I found it very difficult to find truely organic skin care for the child that we were planning, so that is when I started Reasearch, Development and Formulating for what would  later be publically launched as 'blossom eco skin care', a range of 7 truely organic skin care products for babies. Our products all have a minimum of 95% or more certified organic content by volume. I formulate products that contain no water so it is 95% of the total volume of product that is organic content. This is one of the tricky things with products that are "Certified Organic". They need to have a minimum 95% organic content EXCLUDING WATER. So for example if a 100ml bottle of Lotion is 50% water then 95% of the remaining 50ml needs to be organic. (47.5ml) So therefore only 47.5% of the total volume of product is actually Certified Organic content. This often misleads but our products contain no water so we aren't hiding behind any WATER LOOPHOLES!

Over the last 5 years we have come a long way, quickly introducing 4 adult products within the first year for the mums that kept asking. Gradually overtime we have added specialty treatment products and currently have 18 products in our range. It hasn't stopped, I am always in R&D for new products so watch this space!
